About the area...
From your fantastic location in Scarborough perched on the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline, sandwiched between spectacular coastal terrain and the beautiful North York Moors National Park, you’ll be truly spoilt for things to see and do.
Historic York lies 45 minutes inland with it’s Jorvik Viking heritage centre and magnificent Minster - and if shopping’s your thing, the charming market towns of Malton, Helmsley and Pickering, home of the North York Moors Steam Railway, are only a 20 minute drive.
The impressive stately homes of Castle Howard, Burton Agnes Hall, Duncombe Park and Sledmere are close by, whilst the beauty of Bronte Country and the adjacent Yorkshire Dales beckons.
Scarborough today...
Scarborough itself, originally rising to prominence as a magnificent Victorian Spa town, is now a thriving sophisticated coastal resort, boasting some of the finest heritage coastline in the UK.
Two safe, sandy, accredited beaches are geographically split into the North and South Bays by a rocky headland, on which stands the ruins of Scarborough’s medieval castle.
Coastal variations
The magnificent coastline is punctuated by small coves and sandy beaches - the nearby coastal town of historic Whitby and the beach resort of Filey each have their own character, whilst time appears to stand still in the charming fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay, which simply must be visited.
Entertainment for all...
Popular Scarborough attractions include the award winning Sea Life Marine Sanctuary and Kinderland children’s fun park, whilst by night the famous Stephen Joseph Theatre, home of playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn and only two minutes walking distance from the Palm Court, is one of four theatres.
On the site of the old Opera House theatre, a magnificent new casino opened it’s doors in 2006 and is a popular venue for a fun night out, with the fabulous Upper Circle restaurant overlooking the gaming floor.
Dining experiences to remember...
High quality restaurants serving a variety of fresh local produce and seafood are numerous whilst Italian, Greek, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Indian cuisine are all represented in Scarborough alone.
